Book Signing: Paano Ba ‘To by Bianca Gonzalez

15 Mar 2015 | Davao City, Philippines —

Last Sunday, it was my first ever to attend a book signing and I never would have thought that I’d be going for a local author / TV host. Sorry to say, but I don’t really support local talents and movies. Local music is bearable. It was just out of curiosity when I bought the book a couple weeks ago.

I saw the ad few days before the event. It was never really my intention to go but at the back of my mind, I also wanted to give it a try.

My essentials: book (of course!), pen and camera for picture taking

March 15 came, I arrived at Abreeza Activity Center at around 3:30pm. I was expecting to see a crowd but to my surprise, I saw a very organized book signing: a one book, one person policy. While waiting for a friend, I overheard 2 women talking about Bianca sitting on the stairs before the signing started.

When my friend arrived, we headed to the entry point and they gave me number 234. We were not told how it should work so we went at the end of the line going to the stage. A security officer saw my number and asked us kindly to sit first. They were still calling numbers 70-80. I was like Whaaaat??!! Still 150 books away. 😦

So, we grabbed some snacks and walked around the mall. We went back after an hour, they were still in numbers 150-160. We helped ourselves to some available seats and had an endless chitchat while waiting patiently. It was already past 7pm when my number was finally called. I went to form in line. I felt sorry for the 2 people who wanted to cut queue. They were in numbers 220-something but the staff did not allow them because their numbers have already been called. When I came up on stage, the staff was saying no more selfies allowed because they were already out of time. That wouldn’t be fair, right? There were about 16 of us left. Luckily I brought 2 phones, one was with me, the other with my friend.

So, I still managed to take one, and more photos in the other phone. It was nice meeting Mrs. Bianca G-Intal. Although the people around her were already haggard-looking, including me, Bianca’s smile never wore out.
