Perch, A Modern Kitchen + Bar

20 Apr 2015 | Davao City, Philippines —

For me, I never liked the idea of going to restaurants during its soft opening ’cause it’s in a trial and error period. Thank goodness, Perch didn’t let us down. Danny and I gave it a try on its 3rd day (yesterday) since it opened its doors to the public.

Situated in the corner, second floor of the newly opened Felcris Centrale mall lies the newest contemporary gastropub in the metro.

Seeing the place from its glass walls, it has a dim-lit setting and the veranda for al fresco sitting offers a picturesque of Davao’s sunset.

Here’s the menu:

I ordered Angus Cheeseburger Pao with big slices of fries included on the side. The angus patty was cooked right and it is topped with mushrooms and creamy cheese that melts in your mouth on toasted buns. The serving is quite huge that made me full with just eating half. Modern as it is, they served it on a wooden chopping board instead of the usual ceramic plate.

Angus Cheeseburger Pao — Php320

As for Danny, he wanted to have a burrito. Unfortunately, it was unavailable. So, the waiter recommended their grilled salmon and cheese risotto. Oh boy! It’s the second most expensive on the list and we’re the last people on earth who would say no to salmon. When the salmon arrived, it was served on the biggest plate we could’ve imagined.

Grilled Salmon and Cheese Risotto — Php520

According to him, it was the best salmon he ever had. I think the cheese was overpowering but in a good way. Too excited to share this experience, I’m lost for words haha! so let my photos speak for themselves.

Here are our orders on our second visit (May 11) with good friends:

Truffle Fries — Php160
Truffsilog — Php230 (BEST SELLER)
Perch Rising Sun Angus Burger Steak — Php380
A closer look
Deep Fried Burrito in Squash Sauce — Php350

Overall, I give them my 2 thumbs up. I believe the waiters can improve on the knowledge of the food and I hope they would consider lowering down their loud music. I highly recommend this place to people who enjoy the wee hours of the night with great food and high-end alcoholic beverages.

Other recommendations: candied bacon chips, whiskey barbeque chops

Note: This is not a sponsored post but based on our honest opinion and personal experience only.

  1. I’m a Davaoeño. I guess being true to my being one means I’ll be one of the last people try this place. Hahaha. I pass by the perch everyday, but haven’t had the guts to drop by. Thank you for allowing people like myself to take a peek. 🙂
