One late Monday afternoon, I invited hubby to grab some light snacks before meeting my girl friends. BU Tapas came to mind. BU is the name of the proprietor’s mom and a detailed information about her hangs on the wall on the right side of the door upon entering the place. Spanish 101: tapas — snacks or appetizers, bebidas — drinks and bodega — warehouse.
The parking lot reminded me of Ateneo’s street parking along Roxas Boulevard where students double or even triple park.
Stepping inside, it was packed with people enjoying their meals. The place is tiny and can only accommodate around 15 people. We were welcomed by friendly staff and invited us to sit on the bar side.
Scanning through the menu, meals are mostly written in Spanish words but with translations and brief descriptions in English. The carnivorous me opted for the all-meat pizza and some spicy potatoes for appetizer.
I was expecting to see gigantic sliced potatoes but to my surprise, we got around a dozen of marble potatoes. I should have read the details! On the side is a sweet and spicy Tabasco sauce in generous amount.
All-meat pizza is one of their bestsellers according to the staff. It’s oblong in shape, cut in squares and served on a wooden board. The pizza’s crust is thin and crispy topped with bacon, chorizo (smoked and dried pork sausage with spices), ground meat, onion, mushrooms, olives and loaded with lots of cheddar cheese that made me finish only 3 slices. So, we asked to take out the remaining slices. I think it was a really good pizza if they didn’t put too much cheese on it.
