There are lots of good hotels in uptown Cebu that are recommended by many. Just ask me I could name a few but, a new and contemporary style hotel that opened its doors last September 2014 is Pillows Hotel, where Danny and I stayed for a couple of nights. It’s an 8-storey hotel with a total of 43 rooms (standard, superior, deluxe and premier suite) and equipped with a fitness gym and a tiny cafe.
We were looking for a good and affordable hotel near CFO and found it while walking around Llorente and Roa streets. The lobby, although quite small, is clean, all white and has a nice set of sofa. The staff is very accommodating, too.
Behind the reception area is their tiny restaurant that could accommodate about 15-20 people. Stairs and the elevator are in between.
The elevator has touch-sensitive buttons. Isn’t it cool?
They were having promo rates during our visit and a standard room price started at Php1,000 without breakfast. However, we also considered a room with a big window so that our laundry could dry up fast. So, they offered us their superior room at Php1,500 a night without breakfast and even showed us around first. Without a second thought, we availed the superior room for 2 nights.
There is a specific color for the walls on each floor.
The room is comfortably enormous for 2 scrawny people. No doors for the cabinet. There is a desk on the right side of the room and a big window with a mountain view on the left.
We were also fortunate to witness the sunset from our room.
But the design of the not-so-spacious bathroom was a little peculiar. Behind the door is an inch away from the toilet, I would hit my knee if someone opens the door while I do my thing. A not-too-wide glass wall separates the toilet and shower, water may still splatter under the glass wall.
We slept very well at night. The aircon was noiseless and we didn’t hear any noise from cars or motorcycles outside, even though our room is just beside the street.
The next morning, we had breakfast at the hotel’s artsy-fartsy restaurant. I had a full meal while Danny just ate a sandwich. All breakfast meals are priced at Php165 with a drink.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Pillows Hotel and we highly recommend it to people looking for a very affordable comfort and style while staying in uptown Cebu. It is also accessible to many food chains, hospitals, banks, and malls.
