Goseong County

30-31 May 2015 | Gangwon-do, South Korea —

Danny and I spent our first weekend in Korea in 강원도 (Gangwondo 도 means province) to visit his aunts. We traveled 3 to 4 hours west from 경기도 (Gyeonggido) at 80-100kph.

한계령 (Hangyeryeong)

Along the way, we passed by many mountains and our favorite view was in 한계령 (Hangyeryeong). It was around 4pm when we arrived at Hangyeryeong, so, we stopped by for a very late lunch or should I say an early dinner. We had a 돌솥 비빔밥 (dolsot / stone pot bibimbap) for sharing and it was one of the most delicious bibimbap I’ve ever tasted plus, it was made with authentic ingredients from the mountain.

As we continue our journey, we also explored around the shore line of the East Sea (never known as Sea of Japan in Korea). The breeze was quite cool that I had to wear jacket and shades to protect my skin and eyes from drying.

To top the trip off, Gangwon-do is a good place to be far away from the hustle bustle of the city life.
