Paju, South Korea —
This is the 3rd sequel of our Paju trip with my family. I could compile it in one post, but there will be tooooo many pictures. Loading might take forever! Unless, you are patient enough to wait for them. Anyway, right after roaming around Heyri Art Valley, we headed to Provence Village (프로방스 마을).
Have you watched the drama My Love From The Star (별에서온 그대) starring Jun Ji Hyun? It aired in 2014 and some scenes were taken at this very location. The Girl Who Sees Smell / Sensory Couple (냄새를 보는 소녀) is another Korean drama that filmed at the illumination show as well.
The tourist spot is not a residential village, but a commercial district lined with restaurants, clothing stores, bakery, cafes, ceramic shops and an herb garden.
First, we grabbed some mouth-watering galbi for dinner at Provence Beef Garden (프로방스 한우가든). The restaurant is situated just across the parking lot. We also tried makgeoli, a Korean traditional rice wine. I only had few sips. Of course I didn’t like it, actually I don’t like any sort of alcohol at all. No kiddin’!
After eating, we looked around the dazzling streets of the village and noticed a high wall separating the village and the illumination show. Danny suggested to lift me up so I will be able to glance what’s inside and decide if we go in or not. But, my father hesitated to go in and so, while he was busy taking pictures, Danny sneaked out and bought tickets. Entrance fee for each person was at ₩6,000 and they accept visitors starting at 6:30 in the evening. We were just on time.
Upon entering the 400-meter long, vibrant tunnel of lights at the Beautiful Fairyland Illumination Show, my parents were already ecstatic. When we reached the piquant fairy land, it offered a very stunning picturesque scenery just as its name suggests. With about 5 million LED lights, it has the most advanced lighting technology and records as the biggest wave illumination show in the country. (SOURCE)
Overall, we had a splendorous time at Provence and Paju despite the limited period and temperature dropping to less than 10°C.
