Stop and Smell the Roses

Seoul, South Korea —

Another most awaited flower festival on the month of May is the Rose Festival. Red, pink, yellow, white and orange are some of the common colors of this thorny yet beautiful blossoms.

“Some people grumble that roses have thorns; I am grateful that thorns have roses.”
― Alphonse Karr, A Tour Round My Garden

Each year, there are several popular places that hold the rose festival in Korea namely Seoul Grand Park, Olympic Park, Everland in Yongin, Ulsan Grand Park, and Gokseong in Jeollanam-do. We only visited Jungnang Park (중화수경공원), which is famous for its 5.1km rose tunnel. The event was held last May 20-22. Most visitors were elderly and were just enjoying the scorching afternoon with their own company.

Because of the temperature, we decided not to go further around the park.

Address: Jungnang-gu, Seoul

Direction: Junghwa Station (Seoul Line 7) Exit 4. Walk straight about 600 meters.
