Incheon, South Korea —
From street food to Korean-Chinese cuisine, Incheon Chinatown is indeed a food haven for professional eaters like myself. Most restaurants hang vaunting tarpaulins outside their establishments advertising that they were featured in many Korean variety shows including Running Man. I remember quite well the Jajangmyeon (자장면 / Bean Sauce Noodle) race with Kim Jun Hyun and UEE and have been dying to try white jajangmyeon ever since I’ve watched that episode (#249).
It was already past lunch time when we arrived. However, the queue in restaurants and even street food stalls were still long. Although we were famished, we waited patiently in line for some lamb skewers (양꼬치 / yangkkochi) just to fill our growling stomachs.
Consequently, we got in an almost empty resto and had seafood noodle soup (짬뽕 / jjampong), sweet and sour pork (탕수육 / tangsooyuk) and white jajangmyeon. We were a bit disappointed about the taste of everything we’ve ordered.
After leaving the establishment in dismay, we distracted ourselves by wandering aimlessly along the streets.
We’ve also brought home some “lie” bread (공갈빵/ gonggalbbang) which I had forgotten to take photo of. LOL. Bought 3 pieces for ₩5,000. It’s basically a huge, crispy bread with honey inside but the center is hollow. That’s how it got its name.
If you want to chow as much food as you want in Chinatown, I suggest you go there on a weekday, earlier than meal time on an empty but not grumbling stomach. That’s all for now. Thanks for reading!
